Fish fry to benefit Godwin Scholarship

Wednesday, May 7, 2008
The Brad Godwin Memorial Catfish Dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the Marked Tree Elementary Cafeteria. The cost of a plate is $10. Dine-in of carry-out plates are available.

Brad Godwin was the Marked Tree High FFA teacher for seven years. While he was teaching, he really established a bond with his students and fellow co-workers. He was highly respected by everyone who encountered him, compliments of his warm heart and great personality. He took his students on many camping trips in Batesville on his family's land, where students enjoyed the beauty of outdoors and played games.

To his students, he wasn't just a teacher, he was also a friend.

Godwin fell ill and passed way in 2003. His students were grief-stricken. They all traveled to Batesville, his hometown, to attend the funeral services.

To honor their beloved teacher, the FFA and Marked Tree alumni decided to have an annual catfish dinner is his honor. The proceeds of the dinner will go to the Brad Godwin scholarship.

Everyone, especially his students, are invited to attend the fish fry. For more information on the dinner, please contact present FFA teacher Brad Stoddard at (870)-358-2476.
